Thom Yorke solo at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, PA

Welcome our newest author Anthony! We’ve seen many shows together and he is a welcome addition to the 52Shows A Year family!- aemandee

I’ve loved Radiohead since the 90s and got even more into them over the years. I’ve personally never been lucky enough to see them play and know that currently they are on hiatus each doing solo projects so when I saw Thom was playing and it didn’t cost an arm and a leg to go see him (which is one of the main and only reasons I never had the chance to see Radiohead being the cost and limited ticket availability) well I had to take a chance and see if my buddy wanted to actually take the almost 6 hour drive to Pittsburgh PA from North Jersey to at least see Thom play solo. I’m so glad he decided to go for it and it was a bit of driving for sure but in the end was well worth it. I got to hear plenty of songs I knew of as well as many I didn’t. It was almost like one long dream. The sounds he created were all quite surreal and amazing and kept me floating throughout the show. His voice is so ethereal and angelic. He went on to do two encores. The first he played a new song I love called Dawn Chorus. More of a floating poem over beautiful calming piano. It was really so great to hear it live and like a few other moments of the show practically brought me to tears. It was an amazing show and one I would definitely suggest making the effort to see if you ever get the chance.
