JRAD at the Capitol Theater (night 1)- Port Chester, NY

jrad capitol theater

Week 2, show 2- we are definitely off to a good start…

When (the master of this domain name) started this page it got me curious about the number of shows I attend, I intended on keeping better track…..but at the end of the year, I am really unsure as to the number. With ticket stubs and calendar entries it looks like I went to 31. Which seems like a pretty decent number. I know I went to 32 in 1994, or was it 1995? So you see how keeping a written record could be helpful?!? which brings me to this point. I am not your typical writer. I have never aspired to be one, was told at a young age that my writing sucked (basically) and just stayed away from it for self-preservation. But, this year I will be making regular appearances on the page, I will be writing about my experiences, and may just mention the music a time or two. Hope you don’t mind…

I’m not sure of the validity in counting show number two (I am making this statement because this show was attended with volunteering as the primary purpose) At the end of the day though: I was inside the venue, I was able to hear the music, and even had an opportunity to dance right beside the table. So, yes, this definitely constitutes  ‘show attendance’. I’m counting it.

I get to the venue a bit early, and I see a handful of people on line already and I’m noticing that each one of them have on a crazy hat. I pick up on this because the last time I was at JRAD I saw a bunch of people wearing capes. When I addressed it at the time the gentleman said that for his friend’s birthday they were all wearing capes….now that I have more information, I am sure that was not the case. It is part of the schtick. Every show there’s a new ‘theme’ so to speak. I’m not entirely sure where to get this information beforehand. Like, how do you join in? It seems you have to be in the know. But this is cool. I happen to know a few that are in the know. I could ask them, but it really isn’t all that important to me (in the sense that I will not be dressing up a certain way based on the theme- it’s not my thing….although I always said writing wasn’t my thing and look what we have going on here……)

I get inside, set up the table, and await the masses……
